It was 2013. I was high on a rock up in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. I had a beautiful view of Mt. Meeker and several of the other beautiful peeks. I had some incredible conversations with God. The conversations we had were dramatic. It was a pivotal moment in my life. Fast forward a year later, and I was on the same rock. However, I could not see all of those peeks. It had been snowing and the clouds were covering the mountains. Being the educated and logical man that I am, I never doubted that the mountains were still there. I am not an infant that does not understand object permanence. I understood the mountains never moved. In the same way I did not experience God the same way as previous year. The interaction was far less dramatic. I had to listen intently for his voice and fight off distraction. However, just like the mountains, In faith I never doubted His presence. He was still there.
Maybe you are like me. Maybe you have had those times where you have experienced God. Now you just wish you could hear a whisper. I promise you God is still there. He has never left you. He wants to interact with you. Take time to position yourself to hear from him. Set aside the expectations that it will be like it was last time or like it was for your friend. Set aside the distractions, pick up a Bible and listen.
