What They Said.

As we rapidly approach 2018 many of us are working on goals or resolutions for the year.  If you want some specifics on how to finish those head over and visit Jon Acuff.  I want to take three quotes by great leaders to lay out a path that will help us all be more successful in whatever area you find yourself leading.

The first step to get anywhere is to know where you are going.  The late Zig Zigler said, "If you aim at nothing you will hit it every time."  You do not have to have the entire route mapped out.  Things will change along the way.  You do have to have a general idea of where you are heading.

The second step is to make sure you are following someone.    “You will be the same person in five years as you are today except for the people you meet and the books you read" (Charlie "Tremendous" Jones). Even great leaders need to follow someone else.   The longest route to any goal is the one you try to take alone.  You might be the first person down a path but you are not the first person to take a path first.  Find a mentor.  It could be a live person or reading material from these people.

Lastly, you need to know who is following you.  This might be my favorite leadership quote. “He that thinketh he leadeth, and hath no one following, is only taking a walk” (John Maxwell).  If you want to experience success to the fullest, you have to take others with you.  It should never be lonely at the top.

Take 2018 to a new level.  Set some goals and finish them.  For more resources visit my favorite links page.

    1. Roger, good to hear from you. I know they are simple to know and understand. However, for me, application is where the rubber meets the road. I think step 2 is going to be a big focus for me in 2018. Have a Merry Christmas.
