"You are no Vader . . ."

In the movie, The Last Jedi Snoke delivers a fatal blow to Kylo Ren when he says "Alas, you're no Vader.  You're just a child in a mask." Kylo Ren never recovers from these words and they send him into an emotional tailspin that eventually leads to his complete undoing.

So many of us are like Kylo.  We are little boys and girls on the inside running around with masks on.  We look tough on the outside but when we need courage we cower away like a child under his mother's dress.

In order to be courageous, I must know my true identity.  I am created in my Father's image.  My father is a warrior.  My father loves me and has been training me my entire life to be like him.  I do not need to wear the mask because he has already taken care of all the fear and shame that the mask was covering.  I do not have to be afraid because I am not called to face my struggles in my own strength.

In order to be courageous, it is vital to know who you are and whose you are.  The first fear you have to face is taking the mask off.  Go ahead. You are more than a Vader and more than a boy or girl with a mask.  You are your Father's son or daughter.

What are you afraid you will find when the mask comes off?  When is a time you discovered you had more courage than you thought?
