The Game You Will Never Win

Are you happy where you are or do you feel stuck?  Are you happy at your job? Are you happy in your current mental and emotional state?  Are you happy in your relationships?  Are you happy with your financial situation?  We have all been there at some time.  It might be a job we are miserable in, grieving the loss of someone special to us, or the pile of bills that are left over once all the money is gone.  No matter the situation they all invite us to play the game.  I have known lots of people that have played it.  I have played it myself many times.  I do not know anyone that has ever won.  What game is that?  It's the "Blame Game".

You end up like Alex in the 2017 movie, Jumanji.  Alex is stuck in Jumanji, a game he can't win just surviving with one life.  He can't move on to different levels because he sees himself as powerless.  He just stays stuck for 21 years living in the past.

Blaming others just takes away your power.  For example, when you blame the politician that you don't agree with for your financial situation and give credit to the politician you like when it is going well it removes your power to improve your financial situation.  When you blame your company, your boss, or your coworkers for your terrible work situation, you are avoiding taking responsibility for the choices you made that put you at that company.  If you are not responsible for being in your current situation, it means that you are not responsible for putting yourself in a different situation and have robbed yourself of the power to change the situation.  If you expect other people to make you happy you have given up control and power over your emotional health.

If you want your life to be different, you must stop playing the game.  Stop blaming others for your circumstances, and take back your power to change yourself.

The next post will take the game to the next level.  I will address the effects of playing the blame game with God.  Don't forget to subscribe so you don't miss it.
